NIA After School Programs
The NIA provides area youth with enriching after school programs in a safe, nurturing and familiar environment. NIA after school programs provide students with extended educational activities, as well as time to play independently or participate in structured activities designed to promote their intellectual, physical and social development. The variety of programs offered by the NIA aim to build self-esteem and encourage learning through mutual respect and cooperation for all youth. The NIA wants to empower all children to be successful and to develop by creating a safe, multicultural learning environment that maximizes the ability of each child to achieve his or her full academic and social potential.
The goals of all NIA after school programs are to foster positive youth development, teach new skills, and encourage exploration and learning.
The NIA also strives to strengthen families by encouraging parent and community involvement in developing initiatives that provide educational enhancement, performing arts, and a variety of recreational, cultural and social activities for youth. Families are encouraged to become more familiar with the NIA, view their children at work and at play, watch their dramatic and musical performances,
see samples of artwork and special projects, and join with the
NIA in celebrating their multi-cultural community. Highlights of NIA after school programs that encourage family participation include recognition days, tournaments, a variety
of program and community celebrations, and award ceremonies.
All NIA programs are developed in accordance with the needs and interests of
the population being served, to foster positive youth development and to meet
the needs of working families.
