The NIA Out-Of-School-Time After School program at P.S. 186, P.S. 229, I.S. 227 and I.S. 281 aims to strengthen young people’s academic skills by offering youth a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning
and improve their academic skills using instructional techniques that respond to the student’s natural learning behaviors. The NIA OST program also supports young people’s healthy behavior and physical well-being by offering recreational and sports activities that help youth develop their physical self by stressing fitness, team goals, and interpersonal skills and by offering counseling that focuses on the character development of children that emphasizes what's right with young people while enabling them to develop knowledge and life skills for enhancing ethical and responsible behavior.
