NIA's Annual Read Out Loud Campaign 2023
On February 1st, World Read Aloud Day, NIA Community Services Network will launch our 2nd Annual Read Out Loud Campaign. Every week from then until March 2nd (Read Across America Day), we’ll be hosting free book giveaways and a series of free in-person and virtual visits from authors, illustrators, and special guests.
NIA's Annual Spooktacular Halloween Festival
NIA Community Services Network’s 7th Annual Spooktacular is a free, family-friendly, street festival that will take place on 11th Avenue, between 66th and 67th Street, from 11am to 4pm. This popular community event draws a large crowd of neighborhood families each year. The event will include free Halloween candy, food trucks, a petting zoo, a bouncy house, DJs, live music, kids' concert, costume contests, fall craft activities, costumed characters, and much more.
NIA Annual Senior Picnics Return to Dyker Heights
Each year, NIA’s Senior Picnics encourage local seniors from multiple senior centers to connect with others in the area. This week from September 27th - 29th, nearly 900 seniors came together at Dyker Beach Golf Club.
Bay Ridge Community Vigil Will Honor the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
To commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of September 11th, NIA Community Services Network along with State Senator Andrew Gounardes and City Councilman Justin Brannan, are holding a special community vigil at American Veterans Memorial Pier in Bay Ridge.
NIA Kicks Off 5K Run & Walk in Honor of 40th Anniversary
In conjunction with NIA Community Services Network’s 40th Anniversary, the organization has just kicked off their Virtual 5K Run & Walk Fundraiser to benefit NYC communities. From now until May 31st, participants can run, walk, or donate to the event by visiting https://bit.ly/nia-5k.

NIA Receives 2nd Grant from Investors Foundation for Free Events & Services
NIA Community Services Network recently received a $15,000 grant from Investors Foundation at the Investors’ Dyker Heights Branch located at 7414 13th Avenue. This grant will further NIA’s mission to strengthen and empower children, families, and communities by providing thousands of people across Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island with events and experiences that will bring a strong sense of togetherness as we enter our second year of the pandemic.
NIA Begins Holiday Season with 13th Avenue Lights and Tree Lightings
NIA Community Services Network teamed up with State Senator Andrew Gounardes, City Council Member Justin Brannan, and Investors Bank to sponsor the holiday lights along 13th Avenue from 68th street through 83rd street in Dyker Heights for the second consecutive year, despite budget constraints brought on by COVID-19.
NIA Launches 22nd Annual Fall Fundraiser Virtually for #GivingTuesday
Today, in place of their 22nd Annual Community Awards Dinner, NIA Community Services Network has launched their Annual Fall Fundraising campaign virtually. The three-week fundraiser will help cover operating costs so they can continue to support the families and communities they serve throughout New York City. The campaign will run through December 1st, 2020, known as #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving.
Grant from Brooklyn Community Foundation Enables NIA to Support Families Hardest Hit by COVID-19
NIA Community Services Network’s Outreach Project is funded by a $10,000 grant from Brooklyn Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund. With this grant, NIA will provide immediate assistance to close to 200 low-income immigrant families and families of color in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Gravesend, both neighborhoods in Brooklyn disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

This generous grant will help further NIA’s mission to strengthen and empower children, families, and communities by providing New York City neighborhoods with a strong sense of community and fun experiences that are accessible to all.
